Carmine Chamber to Award Citizen, Business of the Year
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its annual Texas Mixer this Friday, Feb. 28 at Busted Oak Cellars beginning at 6:30 p.m. It is located at 6195 Round Top Rd, Carmine, TX 78932.
The Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year will be awarded. There will be a cash bar and door prizes.

Chamber members are asked to bring either a door prize or a snack.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine High School Cubs baseball team plays Alpha Omega Academy in Huntsville on Feb. 25 at 4 p.m. The home opener is scheduled for Feb. 28 when the team hosts Faith Academy at 4 p.m. RT-C goes to Bellville to play Faith Academy, also at 4 p.m. on March 3.
Jr. High team plays its first home game on Feb. 27, when it hosts Brazosport Christian at 4 p.m.
Round Top-Carmine girls’ basketball team’s season came to an end in the area game when they were defeated by Nueces Canyon in Seguin on Feb. 13.
Looking ahead, Spring Break will be March 10-14.
Rebekah Group
The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on Feb. 13 with six members present. They were Diana Wunderlich, Joys Baird, Joann Ullrich, Sedalia Ullrich, Susan Ray, and Dianna Gerland.
The Bible study was led by Ray with group participation. The Theme was Faithfulness in these days, Session 2: Psalm 22, Faith in the Depths.
Donations for AMEN are being collected during February for the food pantry in La Grange. Both non-perishable food and monetary donations are appreciated.
The quilting group met on Feb. 10 It was reported that MLLC has members currently at Argent Court and Silversage in Brenham; Jefferson Place in La Grange; and Regency in Schulenburg. A birthday party has been scheduled at Jefferson Place on June 20 beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The theme for the WELCA Salad Supper on June 4 is “Let Freedom Ring.” The meal begins at 6:30 p.m. Rev. James Wilkens of Brenham will be the guest speaker for the Thankoffering service on Nov. 9.
Most of the Lenten services for MLLC, Round Top, Shelby, and Waldeck will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top with one being held at Waldeck Lutheran Church on March 26.
Thank you letters were received from Fayette County Sheriff’s office for the gift sent for the Deputy Santa program; Lutherhill Ministries for the gift; and Stamps for the Wounded for the canceled stamps to benefit wounded soldiers.
Birthday celebrants recognized were Leonita Sanders and Ora Lee Levien.
The group recited the Lord’s Prayer, followed by a delicious lunch served by Dianna Gerland and Joann Ullrich.
Carmine VFD
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. at the fire station.
With the cold weather, don’t place space heaters near combustible items such as curtains or towels.

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sunday Worship with Holy Communion, observing the Transfiguration of our Lord, is at 10 a.m.
Domino party is Monday at 1 p.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is in Carmine on Thursdays from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.
They accept clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic bottles and jugs. Please separate them. Note that numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics and plastic bags are not accepted.
Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
