Budget for Animals
To the Editor:
As the volunteer veterinarian at the shelter, I applaud Teresa Brown’s recent article explaining the difficulties faced by the dedicated staff there.
Day to day care for the increasing number of animals left homeless is a huge task in itself. Providing the funds necessary for that care should not be left to the same dedicated volunteers to raise.
This facility saves local governments the enormous cost of establishing their own shelters. It’s time that these local governments include in their budgets a meaningful provision for this public service.
