Be an Educated Voter
To the editor:
Everyday we hear about the fears associated with the election of an individual, which if elected, could end democracy.
The greatest fear towards the end of democracy is in the voters who chose not to vote for the very best candidates. How many times do we the people have elections, but fail to stand up and be counted in the election process. So many decide not to vote figuring the best candidate will win anyway. I vote because so few people vote and therefore my vote goes towards the candidate I support and gets magnified by those not voting. Democracy dies when we don’t vote.
I believe we, as Americans, are looking for leadership in this country, which is sorely lacking. Elected officials don’t seem to want to do what is right to all their constituents, but follow their own beliefs. How many Americans look at our current leadership in this country and believe we have the best people to represent the people and protect us from our enemies?
We, the people, have gotten this country into its current state of despair and we deserve to be the best in the world. We need to choose our leaders at the voting places and not support people who will not support the citizens of this country. In the end we need to do a better job of electing those that represent the citizens of this country and not those who care more about their image in foreign countries.
