Mikus Celebrates Birthday Fayetteville’s own Helen Mikus marked her 100th birthday, celebrated by a longstanding group of women at Orsak’s. The “birthday group” started meeting back at Keiler’s Café well over 30 years ago. “My husband John promised we would live in California and changed his mind so we moved from San Francisco, California to Fayetteville. He should have taken the offer to work with handicapped kids there but he wanted to start a dairy farm. We ran it for 22 years until he passed away.”

Mikus raised three children, John, David and Eileen as a substitute teacher at FISD and by working at Fayetteville Bank among other jobs. “We always celebrate birthdays for everyone in the same month so this celebration was quite a surprise.”
