Apologies Offered, Hopefully Accepted

To the Editor:

Looking back on the outcome of the 2024 Presidential elections, one thing seems certain and that is that there was nothing rigged about it. Because it was deemed to be so very close, both sides were watching the counting of ballots so closely that there was no chance that either side could fudge the numbers. It was even reported that the number of dead people voting was far under those of the last couple of decades. That being said, and the fact that the vote became so lopsided that there was no doubt that the count was true made it impossible for anyone to cry foul play. Since one side appeared to have no chance of winning, some had said to cast votes there would appear to be a waste of time and vote. As to this end, those voting on that side appear to owe the other party apologies for voting anyway.

Looking back at the outcome it becomes clear that there were many wasted votes cast. (For those who don’t know, that’s what’s called “tongue in cheek.) At least as far as Fayette County was concerned. According to the unofficial results listed in the Fayette County Record, the count here was 10,684 for Trump and 2,510 for Kamala Harris. Looking at such lopsided numbers becomes a bit of an embarrassment. After all, had one side or the other won by a margin of say 10 or 15 votes, a win is still a win. No need to go on to overkill which becomes a bit embarrassing. Therefore apologies are in order. Besides, if you can’t buy the election with a billion dollars plus another 18 million borrowed, something must be drastically wrong. Even George Soros declared that horse dead and wouldn’t chip in to defray those expenses. Then embarrassment upon embarrassment, to have the opponent who spent millions less to get elected say that they have funds left over and would be willing to help pay down your debt, that’s unheard of. That must be the angel party. After all, we’ve seen miracle after miracle happen just in order that he lived to get elected. That should give you cause to believe in a supreme being even if you don’t believe in God.

At any rate, it’s been interesting and should prove to continue to be as we, the American family move on to become great again. Of course, as in all families, we won’t always agree nor see eye to eye. Hatred has no place in our future. To dislike something or someone is completely acceptable but hatred comes from the dark side and generally destroys the hater. Christ taught us to love one another. He didn’t say we had to like one another.

My thoughts are that the United States of America needs to continue to be a two party system in order to keep us on a solid foundation. We’re all in this dance together so let’s try not to step on each other’s toes.

P.S. For those who are having their feelings hurt because they still see Trump signs displayed in folks yards, just a thought. These people probably would still be flying that flag or posting those signs even if they had lost the election. It’s just who they are. Win or lose, they are proud of what they believe in. So, rather than feeling hurt, why not continue to show your strength and support for what you believe in. Put those Harris/ Waltz signs back in your yard, Wear a smile and walk tall. That’ll show ’em.
