Leps Blast Manor 14-2

The La Grange baseball team blasted Manor New Tech 14-2 Tuesday to improve to 11-11 overall and 5-3 in district. Oliver Gunn and Braxton Dahse combined on the pitching effort and limited Manor to just three hits.

The Schulenburg golf team qualified for the state tournament after placing third at the regional tournament this week in Corpus Christi. The Shorthorns shot a two-day 708.

LHS Shows Off On Home Track With Standout Performances at Area Meet

La Grange hosted the 21/22-4A Area track meet Wednesday, and on their home track the Leps and Lady Leps turned in some blazing times. Senior Austen Diggs, in what was his final home meet, advanced to regionals in three events, winning the 100 meter dash in a time of 10.41, winning the 200 meter dash in 21.35 and anchoring the La Grange 4x400 relay to an area title, by passing five runners on his leg of the race.

Schulenburg, Flatonia Athletes Regional-Bound

At the 27/28-2AArea Meet in Thrall Thursday, several Schulenburg and Flatonia athletes punched their ticket to the regional meet by finishing in the top four of their events. Fayette County area champs included Schulenburg’s Meredith Magliolo in the high jump, Flatonia’s Zachary Charanza in the discus and Flatonia’s Kobe Burton in the shot put.

Leps Grab Walk-Off Win Against First Place Caldwell

The La Grange baseball team became the first district team to knock off Caldwell Friday as the Leps beat the Hornets 9-8 in an extra-inning thriller. Bennett Barber drove in Bradyn Prasek with the winning run in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Lions Baseball

Iola defeated Fayetteville in baseball Tuesday 5-4 in a game that went 10 innings. Kellen Lopez drove in two runs for the Lions (5-4 overall) and Lawson Fritsch and Chance Konvicka had RBIs. Jack Schley, Brody Dooley and Kole Schmitt combined on the pitching effort.

Kopecky Runs to Pair of District Titles

Schulenburg senior Makena Kopecky had a stellar district track meet last week, winning the 28-2A titles in the 1600 meters (in a time of 5:57.45) and the 3200 meters (in a time of 13:11.41). “This year Makena has had a new-found love for the sport.
