Mental and Spiritual Awareness Presentation for LGISD

St. Mark’s Medical Center (SMMC) is proud to announce its 4-star quality rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS), above the 2022 national average. CMS ratings provide consumers with indications of a hospital’s quality based on a 5-star scale, and annually compiles the ratings by assessing hospitals across the US in five sets of quality measures which also factors in performance measured against time: 1. Mortality 2. Safety of care 3. Readmission rates 4. Patients experience; and 5. Timeliness and effectiveness of care Hospitals report their own data and are eligible to receive a rating if they report at least three measures in each of three or more measure groups, including either mortality or safety of care. More than 4,500 hospitals were eligible to receive star ratings. The star ratings reflect a hospital’s performance on those measures relative to other US hospitals in a “peer group,” which is based on the number of measure sets in which a hospital reports enough data to be scored. In 2022, the average rating is three stars.

The opening reception and awards presentation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at the ARTS Ross Gallery located at 114 North Live Oak, on the square, in Fayetteville. This year’s competition will award $5,000 of prize money to the winners. The competition has drawn over 70 entries from youth in sixth through twelfth grade. This exhibition is just one of the many programs offered by Arts for Rural Texas that encourages youth to be creative and express their individual voices. It is the organization’s desire to nurture artistic excellence and creative thinking while elevating the quality of life and economic developmentin all of the communities. The Emerging Artists Competition is a highlight each year as these young people offer their creations for all to see. The exhibition is underwritten by Arne and Mary Le Johnson who encourage the youth. They seek to support youth and their creative process. They recognize their bravery and encourage them to listen to the stories their art will tell. They along with ARTS recognize the skills that the participants put on display and the skills they will carry with themthrough their lifetime. In conjunction with the Emerging Artists Competition, the ARTS’ summer programs included six week art camps in three communities. Here, over 200 children enjoyed painting, paper making, movie making, photography, sculpting, jewelry making, quilting, theater andmore. The organization is currently approaching twenty years in service and has a mission to enrich lives through art education, performances and cultural experiences. As Albert Einstein stated, “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.”
