Animal Shelter Update

As of Dec. 10, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 1,355: 643 dogs and 712 cats in need. As of Dec. 16, the shelter has 96 animals in care: 69 dogs/27 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Columbus Bee Christmas Party Held

The Columbus Bee met at Robert’s Steak House in Flatonia for a festive event. Nita Renick was awarded a very special gift of love lap quilt from all the fabric she donated to the Charity Quilts project - pieced and quilted by Brigitte Mesecke. Members enjoyed good food and conversation and of course, quilts.

Missing Elderly Female From LG Found Safe

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on the evening of Wednesday Dec. 14 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing elderly person. Grace Johnson, 97 years of age, from La Grange, had reportedly left her residence off of FM 2145 in her 2019 Jeep SUV On Thursday morning, Mrs. Johnson was located in her vehicle in a subdivision in the Katy area. Johnson was evaluated by EMS and was then taken to the police department where she was enjoying drinking coffee with the Officers while awaiting her family’s arrival to pick her up.

Deputy Santa Receives Over 100 Toys, Bucks For Bikes

The LHS Student Council, National Honor Society, and Interact Club, appreciates all of you who participated in their Deputy Santa toy drive and “Bucks for Bikes” fundraiser. Because of your generosity, the clubs were able to donate over 100 toys, as well as over $1,300 for the Deputy Santa bicycle program, which will all help to make Christmas a little brighter for Fayette County children and families in need.

Santa Visits Muldoon Fellowship Center

M Muldoon was blessed with a visit from Santa, with the help of Chris and Antoinette Joplin. Santa made his way to the Muldoon Fellowship Center on Saturday, Dec.10 to see all the little children who were waiting to sit on his lap and let him know what they were wishing for.
