Carmine EDC to Hold Memorial Day Ceremony

The Carmine EDC is sponsoring a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Carmine City Park next Monday, May 29 from 9-10 a.m. The roster of our deceased veterans will be read. Light refreshments will be served following the playing of Taps. You may want to bring a lawn chair.
For any veteran with Carmine connection, buried in Fayette or Washington Counties, to be added to the roster, call (979) 278-3070.

County Extension Agents Attend Early Childhood Conference in Cuero
On April 29, County Extension Agents-Family & Community Health from De-Witt, Fayette, Gonzales, and Lavaca Counties co-hosted a Multi-County/District Early Childhood Conference. The event was held at the Anne Friar Thomas Homemaking Building in Cuero, and a total of 60 area childcare providers registered for the all-day event.

LG Seniors Receive More Than $1 Million in Scholarships
La Grange High School held its annual scholarship presentation for graduating seniors on Tuesday, May 16. The students received a combined total of $1,013,838 in scholarships. Local organizations contributed $308,384 of that amount. Non-local groups and university-sponsored scholarships amounted to $360,050 Students entering the military received $345,404 in educational aid. One scholarship was not pictured: The Gladys Krause Memorial Scholarship went to Kourtney Burton.
