Fayette Co. Students Recognized In Conservation Awards Program

Brynlee Berger of Schulenburg is being recognized for her participation in the Texas Conservation Awards Program sponsored by the Fayette Soil & Water Conservation District No. 341, Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Association of Texas Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Brynlee placed third in the Poster Contest (3rd-6th grade) category.

Farmers Market this Saturday in Winchester

Following the success of the first Farmer’s Market in Winchester the second one will be held Saturday, June 3 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Market will be held between Zilss Hall and the United Methodist Church in Winchester. Vendors will be selling crafts, homemade food items, plants, eggs, and locally grown produce until noon. If you would like to be a vendor, the cost is $10 for a space, and you must bring your own table and chairs. You may register on site. For more information contact Shanti Odom, (512) 913-9110.

Commissioners Talk Juneteenth Planning, Sheriff’s Stats

La Grange Mayor Jan Dockery gave information regarding upcoming Juneteenth celebrations during the Fayette County Commissioners Court meeting on Thursday, May 25. “I’ve been working with Jonathan Ellis and his group [to organize the holiday celebrations],” said Dockery.
The Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation last Thursday designating June 19 as Emancipation Day in Fayette County.
