Darden Travels to Indiana for White Coat Ceremony
Ida Mae Darden of La Grange, recently traveled to Indianapolis, Ind., to watch her grandson, Austin Darden, and his wife, Kylee, participate in Indiana University School of Medicine’s White Coat Ceremony. Austin is the son of La Grange native Nelson Darden and his wife, Frankie. The rite signified that members of the Class of 2024 are transitioning to hands-on learning by interacting directly with patients in a clinical setting. This is the first time the white coat ceremony has taken place at the end of the second year of medical school rather than after the first semester. Indiana University School of Medicine is the largest medical school in the United States.
