In “A History of Carmine” by Tony Buban, H.A. Weyand hauled wood for people with his team of oxen in the early 1900s. He was believed to be the only man to own a team of oxen in the area.

Lloyd Gerland and Edison Bergmann worked for Neutlzer. In the later 1950s Gerland began his own plumbing company. He did pump repair, plumbing for houses, installed pumps, and replaced traps, and drains. His son Dennis helped him. He worked into the end of the 1970s.

William O. Neumann built many houses in Carmine, along with the tall building at 125 Augsburg Ave., which was built in 1918. He was the superintendent for the Works Progress Administration (WPA) when they built the original rock building for Carmine High School in 1938. (The Round Top School and the Carmine School had not yet consolidated) Gus Harzke was a carpenter, probably in the 1930s.

Walter Fuchs was a builder possibly in the 1950s to the early 1970s.

Kermit Hinze built houses in approximately the 1960s to the 1970s.

In the early years of Carmine, cattle were hauled on trains to Ft. Worth. Possibly in the 1930s (maybe sooner), Harold Weyand started hauling cattle with a trailer for auction sales, and continued until about the 1970s. Melvin Schoenst started hauling cattle with him when he was 16 in the early 1960s. His brothers Fritz and Roger also hauled with him. Melvin continues to haul cattle.
