CASA of Bastrop, Fayette & Lee Counties is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Kanchana Iyer, Rebecca Diaz, and Tammy Harris (left to right) as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) by Judge Benton Eskew on Nov. 28. Diaz resides in Fayette County. CASA of Bastrop, Fayette & Lee Counties endeavors to provide trained volunteer advocates in all abuse and neglect foster care cases assigned by the courts. CASA Volunteers are screened and highly trained and then appointed by Judges to represent and advocate for a child’s best interest in the child protection system.
Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $4,000 to the La Grange High School (LGHS) Band Booster Club. Monies donated will be used to purchase two speakers and two subwoofers, along with the chords for the band. The LGHS Band Booster Club organization supports the endeavors of the LGHS Band. Oakley (left) is a year-old Border Collie mix. She is a high energy girl who is people and dog friendly. She is just under 30 pounds and ready to fi nd a family to call her own. Gabi (right) is a young terrier mix who came to us covered in mange (not contagious) and she is well on her way to recovery. She has no idea how it feels to be a part of a family, but she is learning fast and is very friendly. We would love to set up a meet & greet for you to meet them. As of Nov. 24, the total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 1,491: 685 dogs and 806 cats in need. As of Nov. 24, the Shelter has 83 animals in care: 37 dogs/46 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.
