The Carmine Lions Club is collecting toys for the Fayette County Deputy Santa program during December. A collection box will be placed at Carmine State Bank for anyone who would like to donate new toys for this worthy cause.

Heritage Committee

The fourth quarterly meeting of the Carmine Chamber of Commerce Heritage Committee will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. in the museum. The topic of discussion will be the history of the Carmine Hall (Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein) and memories to share. If you have no memories, come to learn what others have to share and bring photos.

RT-C School News

Round Top-Carmine varsity girls play at Buckholts for their first district game on Dec. 5 at 5 p.m.

The varsity boys host Burton on Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Homecoming is Dec. 8 when the boys and girls host Bellville Faith with the first game at 4:30 p.m.

Jr. High girls and boy’s teams host North Zulch at 5 p.m. on Dec. 11.

RT-C Winter Band Concert Mark your calendars for Thursday, Dec. 14 when the Winter Band Concert will be presented at Festival Hill in Round Top at 6:30 p.m.

Ledbetter Lane of Lights The Ledbetter Christmas Lane of Lights continues each Friday and Saturday through Dec. 23. Dates are Dec. 8 and 9; 15 and 16; and 22 and 23.

Enjoy a hayride through a lighted path of Christmas reflections. Santa will be there each night. Tickets are available from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at FM 1291 and Hwy 290.

It is sponsored by the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department. Carmine VFD

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Drill Night is Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. They will not have a regular meeting in December.

With the cooler weather, remember that if you have a space heater, keep it away from curtains or other combustible items that could catch fire.

MLLC News

The Advent service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. A meal will be served at 6 p.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Second Sunday in Advent, is at 6 p.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 10 a.m. The Sunday School will present the Christmas Program, “Christmas, We’re on the Air” during worship. The Noisy Offering will be received. Property and Christian Ed Committees meet Sunday.

Quilting at Camp For All is Monday at 9 a.m.

Visitors’ Center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Meals of Wheels

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

The recycling trailer is now at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m.

There is only an unmanned trailer in Ledbetter behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Accepted are clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic (please separate them and take note that No. 5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload in Carmine.
