National PAT Day Celebrated

On Nov. 8, Parents as Teachers of Rural South Central Texas (formerly Parents as Teachers Schulenburg-Weimar) celebrated National PAT Day. Schulenburg Mayor Koopman signed a proclamation recognizing PAT in the community and county. Pictured above are (from left) Dallas Garza-PAT Parent Educator, Schulenburg Mayor Koopman, Josue Rivas-PAT Program Developer and Karen Hoskins-PAT Program Director. Teachers, students and families wore masks for the theme “Unmasking Potential with PAT” in order to spread awareness of the program. Pictured below are students from St. Rose Catholic School and Schulenburg Elementary School Kindergarteners from Mrs. Imelda Lara’s Class. PAT has served over 827 families with 1,264 children since 2002 in the Weimar/Schulenburg area with the main goals of: 1) Helping families give children the best possible start in life, and 2) Supporting parents in their roles as their child’s first and most influential teacher.
