An aging, crotchety old hermit holed up in a broken-down single-wide plopped down in a cluttered lot on the outskirts of Carmine. Buford––not his real name––was a victim of life, scarred to the core, who seldom encountered either friend or foe or acquaintance … or family.

Roscher Graduates from SHSU

Abigail Anne Roscher graduated from Sam Houston State University on December 8, 2023. The ceremony was held on the Sam Houston State University campus in the Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. She is a former graduate of La Grange High School and Blinn College where she received an Associate of Arts degree. She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Lira Joins Community Theatre Staff

For the past year, Melanie Lira has been working for the Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT) in the role of Production Operations Manager. This involved handling social media and advertising for FCCT productions, as well as managing Front of House and volunteers during those productions. In 2024, her role will expand to year-round oversight of all marketing and advertising, staffing the box office two of the four days per week it is open, and handling bookkeeping for the organization.

Korenek Graduates From A&M

Julie Marie Korenek graduated from Texas A&M University on Dec. 14. She received a degree in Poultry Science and graduated magma cum laude. Julie is the daughter of James and Aimee Korenek of Fayetteville and granddaughter of Earl and Alice Schmitt of Fayetteville and Vlasta Korenek and the late Lawrence Korenek of Columbus.
