    Ledbetter Community Center Hosts Bingo for Seniors

Bingo for Seniors (age 60 and older, plus guests) is held on the second Sunday of the month at the Ledbetter Community Center from 2 to 4 p.m. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a freewill donation.

This is a nonprofit community event for entertainment. The next date is this Sunday, Jan. 14.

RT-C School News

Round Top-Carmine girls’ and boys’ varsity basketball teams host McDade on Jan. 9 at 5 p.m. The teams play at Fayetteville on Jan. 12 also at 5 p.m.

Jr. High girls’ and boys’ teams play at Dime Box on Jan. 11 at 5 p.m. Both teams will participate in the Dime Box tournament on Saturday, Jan. 13 RT-C FCCLA and Beta Club organizations held a toy and clothing drive that benefitted 31 local youth. They appreciate all of those who contributed, as these children had several gifts to open Christmas morning.

Carmine VFD

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.

Blood Drive

A blood drive is scheduled to be held on Sunday, Jan. 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be held in the Fellowship Hall. You may make an appointment by contacting Khardin@giveblood.org or by logging in to your established digital donor account.

Baby Care Kits

Baby Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief will be collected by the Women of the ELCA of Martin Luther Lutheran Church through January.

Needed are lightweight cotton T-shirts; long or short sleeved gowns or sleepers without feet; receiving blankets; flat cloth diapers; sweater, sweatshirt, or jacket with hood (or include a baby cap); socks; bath-size bars of gentle soap; diaper pins or large safety pins; and hand towels (dark color recommended). Sizes needed are up to 24-months.

MLLC News

Confirmation class meets for their first session of the year on Wednesday from 4:15 to 6:45 p.m.

Women of the ELCA Unit meeting is Thursday at 1 p.m.

Rebekah Group meets Thursday at 2 p.m. following the unit meeting Saturday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Second Sunday after Epiphany, is at 6 p.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 10 a.m. Praise Team leads songs and the Noisy Offering will be collected.

The annual meeting follows worship.

The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Domino Party is Monday at 1 p.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.

Visitors’ Center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Meals on Wheels

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m.

There is only an unmanned trailer in Ledbetter behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Accepted are clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic (please separate them and take note that No. 5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload in Carmine.
