Muldoon’s Stray Gathering Cowboy Church Celebrating Anniversary Jan. 14
The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church ended the year with a bang. Their youth hosted the morning service on New Year’s Eve with special music and the message being brought by the youth pastor, Amy Frank. It was a wonderful sight to see the young people stepping up and taking on such a strong show of faith.
SG2C has been steadily improving their church with the addition of a new parking lot to handle all the cars, and the addition of a storage building. The building and grounds committee is lead by Tommy Swenson and he and his committee have been steady keeping the building in shape and the grounds kept so beautiful. They have made SG2C a beautiful part of the Muldoon community and have rejuvenated a historic old church with a growing congregation.
Coming up on Sunday, Jan. 14 will be Testimonial Sunday. This is in honor of celebrating SG2C’s first anniversary. Everyone is invited to come out and help them celebrate this wonderful occasion. Fellowship starts at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts. Then at 10 a.m. the worship service begins.
SG2C is already beginning plans for a Spring Round Up the 4th Saturday in March with lots of activities for kids and adults alike. This will be a wholesome and fun time. So mark your calendars for this fun and exciting event on the SG2C’s church lineup of outreach opportunities. More details to come as plans firm up, so save the date.
Meanwhile the ROPE (Rely On Prayer Everyday) youth group continues to meet on Wednesday nights beginning at 6 p.m. with a meal. They then have a Bible study and usually lots of fun games and some wonderful fellowship with other area youth. Any youth ages 13-18 years old are invited to come and join in. This is a great and growing group of youth who take time out of their week to come and study, worship and have a blast doing it. Come join in.
Out and About
John and Debra Schwartzenburg celebrated the New Year with John’s brother Irvin and Kayleen Schwartzenburg and family; David and wife Alejandra and their son Lucian came from New Caney for New Year’s Eve for gumbo and fireworks. They then enjoyed NewYear’s Day with beignets and watching their almamater LSU win. They reported that it was like a trip back to Louisiana right here in Fayette County.
Nancie and Billy Blair traveled to the Fort Worth area to spend Christmas with Nancie’s mom, Elaine Lang and her sister and brother in law Lu and Fred Ginapp and their niece for dinner and a beautiful candlelight service.
Dana and Darrell Kulak got to spend New Year’s Eve with their grandson Henry Kulak, so Henry’s parents Elton and Miko could go have some adult time and bring in the New Year.
New Year
The NewYear was brought in with lots of fireworks in the area. So far 2024 has brought some rain and some cooler temperatures. More rain is due at the time of this writing and it will be welcomed to help bring up the soil moisture levels and help the ground get ready for spring.
Road Hazards
Once again there have been a number of animals hit on the roads in the area. Both deer and hogs have been attempting to cross and not making it. Hitting either can cause a lot of damage to a vehicle. Please be aware while driving in the rural areas and watch out for animals alongside the roads.
