LCRA Donates $23,500 to Crosspoint Church

A $23,500 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and the City of La Grange will help Crosspoint Community Church, the only designated Red Cross shelter in Fayette County, add a generator to help ensure power remains available at the site during emergencies.

Shelter Has Over 120 Animals In Care

As of May 31, the total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 699: 297 dogs and 402 cats in need. As of May 31, the shelter has 121 animals in care: 56 dogs/65 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

The shelter offers a discount voucher program to the citizens of Fayette County for the spay/neuter of family pets. Call (979) 966-0021 for inforation.

Brugger Wins in Essay Contest

Brylee Brugger recently won 1st place for her essay in the Navidad Valley Cattle Women’s Association “Beef for Father’s Day Essay” contest. The requested topic was “What makes her Dad so great and why he should be awarded a beef gift certificate?” The prize was a gift certificate for beef from a local market or beef entree at her favorite restaurant. This contest was open to 6th graders who reside in Fayette, Lavaca or Colorado County. The Navidad Valley Cattle Women is a local chapter of the Texas Cattlewomen and a non-profit that promotes the beef industry.

“I Do!” Round Top Wedding Reception this Weekend

This weekend is full of events in Round Top. McLaren’s Open House will be open all weekend for a pop-up, and “I Do Round Top” takes place all day Saturday. Tour venues in the morning, enjoy a happy hour at Duo, and cap-off the night with a “Reception” at Henkel Square (tickets are required for the reception). Alliance for College and Career Awarded $50,000

With the assistance of ACCSS partner, Schulenburg ISD, serving as the fiscal agent, the Alliance for College and Career Student Success (ACCSS) was awarded a $50,000 Summer Career and Technical education grant from the Texas Education Agency.

St. Paul-Serbin Pork Steak Dinner June 16

St. Paul Lutheran Adult Fellowship in Serbin is having a BBQ Pork Steak dinner on Sunday, June 16 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. Only advance plates will be sold for $15 and all are to-go. If you would like to purchase tickets, please contact the church office at (979) 366-9650.
