Brylee Brugger recently won 1st place for her essay in the Navidad Valley Cattle Women’s Association “Beef for Father’s Day Essay” contest. The requested topic was “What makes her Dad so great and why he should be awarded a beef gift certificate?” The prize was a gift certificate for beef from a local market or beef entree at her favorite restaurant. This contest was open to 6th graders who reside in Fayette, Lavaca or Colorado County. The Navidad Valley Cattle Women is a local chapter of the Texas Cattlewomen and a non-profit that promotes the beef industry. They function to inform consumers of the importance of the beef industry and the contributions it makes to the economy of the nation.

Shared Lutheran Ministry The Ladies Tea will be Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to noon at St. John in Rutersville. This will be a tea party and brunch for ladies of every age. Ladies can host a table for a $20 donation and asked to bring a brunch item or dessert. A variety of tea and lemonades will be provided. This event is open to friends and family and Sunday dress and hats are encouraged. For more information, call Maegan Blaschke at (830) 7087430. SLM Day Camp

SLM Day Camp will be partnered with Lutherhill and will be July 22-26. Each church in the SLM is asked to provide a $50 donation for the Lutherhill staff to have lunch in La Grange, provide breakfast for campers and staff (about 30 people) between 7:30-8:15 a.m. and be a “Camp Grandparent” that will stay and connect and craft with campers either from 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 7:30-8:45 a.m. If you would like to contribute in other ways or have questions, contact Kristina Buro at (713) 829-6445. Registration forms are available online or at each church.

Worship services are still offered on Facebook, You Tube and KTIM 89.1 on Sundays at noon. Ellinger has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m. with communion.

Birth Announcement 

Kim and Marcus Rhodes welcomed their baby boy on Thursday, May 22. Aubrey Alexander weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long and born in Brenham. Proud grandparents are Bo and Linda Smidovec of Ellinger and Cheryl Rhodes of Weimar. Big brothers welcoming home the baby are Amaria (10) and Austin (6). Amaria made the Major Little League All Star team and Austin made the Coach’s Pitch All Star team recently.

Hermann Sons 

The Ellinger Sons of Hermann lodge will be meeting on Monday, June 17 at 6 p.m. at the fire station.

ESW will meet on Mon-

Brethren Church 

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m.

Chamber of Commerce The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will meet on Tuesday, June 11 at 7 p.m. in the dining hall. All chamber and community members are invited to attend.

City of Ellinger 

The City will meet on Thursday, June 17 at the chamber dining hall.
