Every Vote Counts

To the editor:

After open and honest campaigns by both parties and a nail-biting vote count, we have a new County Judge elect. Congratulations, Josh Holman. And thank you, Josh Vandever, for putting yourself out there to take on even more responsibility than you already carry.

If nothing else, this election proves one thing: the old adage is true. Every vote really does count. This election and the results aren’t about the best candidate winning, because both candidates proved themselves to be equally well qualified for the position. Both are dedicated public servants. And both have the best interests for the people of Fayette County at heart.

We are not just lucky, we are blessed to have two such selfless candidates willing to put themselves out there for the betterment of our county’s judicial system. They are examples of what an election campaign should look like, even in an “off” year.

Think about that when the next election cycle comes around this coming November. Rather than just talking about the candidates and who’s better or worse, show up at the polls, because your vote really does count.
