Your One Vote

To the editor:

We just finished local elections and just realized the importance of Your One Vote. Candidates tell everyone how good they are and how bad their opponents are, or all about the endorsement they are receiving from the President or Governor. Four couples changing their vote in the recent County Judge Election could have affected the outcome.

Now is the time to commit to learning all about the candidates in the soon coming November Election. Too many in our Congress hate America and are vowing to destroy our President, along with Cabinet Leaders, and yes, even Supreme Court Judges. Only a slim majority has avoided the tragic consequences of prefacing the downfall of our great nation. Yet we find a majority of eligible voters fail to make their voice heard through the ballot box. After all, I have only one vote. Your one vote counts.

For anyone thinking your one vote doesn’t count, let us check out some historical elections making a huge difference:

1. In 1801 Thomas Jefferson won the Presidency over Aaron Burr and with the electors tied the election was thrown into the House of Representatives.

2. John Quincy Adams became President in a dead-lock with Andrew Jackson by one vote in 1824.

3. Marcos Morton became Governor of Massachusetts in 1839 by one vote.

4. In 1845 Texas was admitted to the Union by the Louisiana Senator’s one vote change from a 26/26 tie to a 27/25 victory for union admission.

5. Rutherford B. Hayes became President over Samuel Tilden by one vote in 1876.

6. In 1910 the New York 36th Congressional District Election had Smith over Alexander by one vote.

7. In 1948 a Texas Convention Executive Committee confirmed Lyndon B. Johnson over ex-governor Coke Stevenson in a contested Senatorial election by one vote.

8. In 1994 Wyoming’s House of Representatives Race, Luthi and Call each finished with 1,941 votes. Regrets: one more vote needed.

9. In 2017 Simonds won a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates by one vote.

10. In 2026 the House of Representatives preserved President Trump’s power to protect our country by one vote in the Democratic attempt to strip him of any war powers.

Our November Election is not just about political issues. It’s about good vs. evil, right vs. wrong, about conservative vs. liberal. It’s time for voters to familiarize themselves with the Platforms of both parties and not simply vote for the party of our parents and grandparents. Campaign promises are cheap and with AI it’s difficult to distinguish truth from lies, but a brief study of what each particular party stands for will lead you to the right box to check on election day.

It’s vital for President Trump to have the support of a Congress doing what’s necessary to continue to clean up the mess he inherited, to protect us from nations vowing to destroy the USA and to Make America Great Again.

Now is not the time to keep silent. Your one vote is important.
