Some Thoughts on Christianity
To the editor:
Recently there has been a lot of rhetoric about displaying the Ten Commandments in school classrooms. For some reason there is a belief that these commandments are Christian. Many forget that it was Moses, a Hebrew, who brought the commandments to the people in their flight from the Egyptians. So the commandments are Jewish not Christian as some would believe. I’ve always wondered what a first grader would think about coveting his neighbors wife?
Another issue with Exodus is the splitting of the Red Sea. Just looking at the journey that the Jews took indicates that, at best, Moses may have split the waters of The Gulf of Aqaba since he and his followers never made it to the Red Sea. Moses path of travel is well documented on Google.
I always am curious as to why most churches seem to worship Jesus, but the religion is about God not Jesus. Isn’t one of the commandments thou shall not worship false gods so why have people been worshiping Jesus as if he were a God?
People are free to worship as they see fit, but they should be aware of the inconsistencies.
