La Grange Head Coaching Search: What Comes Next

How many people will be vying to be the next head football coach/athletic director at La Grange? A lot – if Wednesday was any indication. When reached by phone Wednesday afternoon, La Grange superintendent Andy McHazlett said he’d had five people apply for the position in the last hour – and the vacancy was just posted statewide Wednesday morning.

Flatonia Boys Down Schulenburg 69-54

In a battle for early control of the District 28-2A boys basketball standings, Flatonia beat Schulenburg 69-54 Friday, led by a 20-point night from Holden Kloesel and 17 from Jaidyn Guyton. Aaron Janacek led the Shorthorns with 10 points.

After losing to Giddings Tuesday to fall out of first place, the La Grange Leps bounced back in a big way Friday downing Manor New Tech 46-38 to leap-frog them in the standings. La Grange (13-9 overall, 4-1 in district) now sits all alone in second place, one game behind the Buffaloes.

The La Grange girls closed out the first half of district play with a 61-20 win Friday at Manor New Tech. Freshman Kylie Trlicek led the way with 16 points for La Grange.

The La Grange boys had a rough time in Giddings Tuesday losing 35-31 in a key District 224A basketball battle. The Leps led by one going into the final quarter but couldn’t hold it on a night when offense was hard to come by for both teams.
