La Grange native Abigail Dela Rosa had a record-setting opening weekend for the St. Mary’s University softball team. Dela Rosa, a junior, tied the St. Mary’s single game record for triples in a game, becoming the eighth Rattler to hit two, doing so in the season-opening 12-7 loss to Southeastern Oklahoma State. She crushed another triple in the second game (an 11-7 win over Colorado School of Mines) and went 7-for-8 at the plate with five runs scored and five RBIs last weekend.

Flatonia’s Zach Charanza signed his letter of intent Wednesday to throw the shot put and discus at the University of Louisiana-Monroe. Charanza was joined at the ceremony by his parents Allison and Shane, front, and the Bulldog coaches, back.

Flatonia’s Beck Zimmerman signed his letter of intent to play college baseball at the University of Houston-Victoria. In addition to the Flatonia coaches, Zimmerman was joined by his parents Bryan and Briana and brother Brixdon.

Flatonia’s Titan Targac signed his letter of intent to pitch at Texas State University Wednesday. He was joined at his ceremony by parents Valerie and Matt and brothers Boston and Stryker.

Flatonia’s Richard Valdez signed his letter of intent to play college football at Texas Lutheran University. In addition to the Flatonia coaches (back row) Richard (front and center) was joined by his family members, his father Richard, mother Leticia, sister Violet and brother Carmine.
