Fayetteville’s Jaeger Named Southland Conference Volleyball Player of the Week

Fayetteville native and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi sophomore Brooklyn Jaeger was one of three athletes who earned this week’s Jersey Mike’s Southland Conference Volleyball Player of the Week awards, the conference office announced Monday. Here’s what Brooklyn did to earn the honor: “Jaeger recorded 71 digs over the weekend, averaging 4.44 per set in three matches at the Islanders Classic. She posted back-to-back 20+ dig performances against Prairie View and Sam Houston, her second and third time this season hitting that benchmark.”

J.K. Dobbins Has Another Big Game

It’s been two weeks and two touchdowns for La Grange native and new Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins. Dobbins had his second consecutive Sunday with a touchdown for Denver as he ran for 76 yards and one score in the Broncos 29-28 loss to Indianapolis. For the season Dobbins now has 139 yards (for a 4.6 yards per carry average). Denver, now 1-1, plays at the Chargers (Dobbins’ team last year) this Sunday at 3 p.m.

La Grange Slams Smithville 41-7

With dozens of former Leopard state champs watching, the current crop of La Grange football players rose to the occasion. The Leps slammed Smithville 41-7 Friday on a night when the 1975 and 2000 La Grange state champ football teams were honored on the “Night of Champions” at Leopard Stadium.
