One huge key to Schulebburg’s victory over Flatonia in the Region IV-2A volleyball title match was the play of the Lady Horns four seniors. As they faced down the prospect of what could have been their final high school volleyball match, Landry Zapalac, Reagan Dusek, Clara Magliolo and Grace Schramek all shone brightly when their team needed them most.

The Round Top-Carmine Cubettes earned a berth in the regional volleyball title match with a four set win over Utopia Tuesday in Seguin in the fourth round of the playoffs. The Cubettes won 25-23, 25-27, 25-16, 25-22.

Schulenburg and Flatonia both rose to the occasion. In front of a near capacity crowd in Columbus for the regional crown, the Lady Horns and Lady Bulldogs gave all those fans every moment of drama they could have asked for.

The Fayetteville volleyball team lost its regional semifinal match Tuesday in Seguin to McMullen County 25-18, 25-19, 25-22. The Lady Lions end their season with a 29-14 overall record. McMullen County advances to face Round Top-Carmine in the regional final Friday in Athens.
