The La Grange High School Swim Team traveled to Belton on Saturday to compete in the Roy and Jean Potts Invitational, a meet that brought together 22 schools, including 7 Class 4A programs. Battling through limited practice time and several illnesses during the week, the Leopards rose to the challenge—finishing 7th overall against primarily 5A and 6A teams and earning the title of top-placing 4A school at the meet.

The Round Top-Carmine volleyball team saw its season come to an end in the state quarterfinals Friday in Athens with a 25-14, 25-11, 25-19 loss to McMullen County. The Cubettes ended their season with a 18-24-1 record.

Flatonia senior girls basketball star Summer Sodek officially signed her letter of intent Thursday to play for Texas Women’s University in Denton after graduation. Here’s a press release the university made announcing her signing: “Summer Sodek joins the Pioneers after an impressive high school career at Flatonia ISD, where she earned All-State honors, was a three-time District MVP, and made the Basketball Super Elite Team.

“We wanted the storybook ending, and we didn’t quite get it,” said Schulenburg volleyball coach Donald Zapalac. The Schulenburg volleyball team’s epic playoff run this season ended in Brenham Saturday in the state semifinals with a 25-17, 25-20, 2517 loss to Jewett Leon.
