Schulenburg resident and 5th grader at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, Charlie Shank, was able to celebrate a victory with his team after a long weekend of baseball in Houston this last Sunday, April 25, 2021. They participated in the Perfect Game Baseball Association 2021 11U Easton Jerseys & Rings Event (AA), beating out Futures Fuego for the ring in the silver bracket. La Grange High School and University of Texas football legend Johnnie Johnson has been named the 2021 recipient of the Bronko Nagurski Legends Award and will be honored at the Bronko Nagurski Awards Banquet presented by LendingTree on Dec. 6 at the Charlotte Convention Center.

The Fayetteville baseball team won their third game in a row, bashing Richards Tuesday 11-1. The Lions improved to 11-8 overall and 8-5 in district with the win.

The Schulenburg softball team lost its playoff-seeding tiebreaker against Ganado 12-7 Tuesday. Now the Lady Horns will open the playoffs against Refugio.

The La Grange baseball team beat Austin LBJ on the road Monday to improve to 6-3 in district play. The Leps play their regular season finale Friday at 7 p.m. at home against LBJ as they try to tie for the runner-up spot in District 20-4A. No stats from Monday’s game were available at press time.

The Round Top-Carmine baseball team defeated Burton Saturday 3-0 as Ryker Goehring pitched a complete game threehitter with nine strikeouts. Alex Pieper had two hits and drove in a run.

The Texas MS 150 Bike Ride takes place this Saturday, May 1. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which hosts the annual ride to raise money for MS research, significantly scaled-back the two-day annual event to a one-day ride this year due to COVID-19.
