Locals Shine at State Powerlifting

Flatonia’s Isaac Vasquez finished 10th in the 242 weight class Saturday at the State Powerlifting Meet in Abilene. Isaac finished his career against the best in the state, posting personal records in squat (550) and bench (405) as well a personal best overall total of 1,425 pounds.

Caldwell Edges Lady Leps

La Grange’s 10-Game Win Streak Snapped The surging La Grange softball team had their 10game win-streak snapped Monday on a 2-0 extra-inning loss to Caldwell at home. The teams had entered the game tied for first place in district, but now Caldwell holds a one-game lead over the Lady Leps, who fell to 3-1 in district play and 11-10 overall.

Fayette County 4-H Competes in HLSR Food Challenge

Several Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Food Challenge Contest at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on Tuesday, March 12. The Fayette County 4-H Senior Team consisting of Elena Supak, Tori Newton, and Eleanor Carey placed 4th in the Senior Main Dish Category.
Junior Main: Kloey Noska, Tate Fritsch, Emory Malota, and Kaylyn Beseda.

Lady Leps Roll On, LG Baseball Falls

The La Grange softball team improved its record to 3-0 in district and 11-10 overall with a 12-2 victory at Taylor Friday. La Grange’s Marissa Gonzales pitched a complete game two-hitter with five strikeouts.

Kubala Throws Out First Pitch

Emma Kubala threw out the first pitch at the Schulenburg softball game on Tuesday, March 19, as part of the school’s Turtle Wing Game. It was a strike. Turtle Wing’s mission is “helping individuals with learning challenges in rural areas achieve their full potential,” and Turtle Wing Games are part of the foundation’s education and advocacy efforts. Turtle Wing partners with local high school baseball and softball teams, and a child enrolled in special education gets to be the star of the show and throw out the first pitch. Local Basketball Awards

• Congratulations to La Grange Senior basketball players John Gray, Veer Desai and Reece Nygren for earning Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State honors. John was named to the 1st team and Veer and Reece were named to the 2nd team.

Lions Stay Undefeated

Fayetteville swept Snook in a baseball doubleheader Tuesday as the Lions improved to 4-0. In the first game, a 14-2 Lions victory, Fayetteville got two hits each from Jack Schley, Brody Dooley, and Chance Konvicka. Dooley had two doubles and drove in four. Konvicka drove in three. Schley pitched five hitless innings.
