Fayetteville hosted the District 29/30-1A area Monday. Fayetteville won both the boys and girls team titles and advanced numerous athletes (who placed in the top four) to the regional meet as did Round Top-Carmine. Here are those regional qualifiers:

The District 29-1A track meet was held April 3 in Fayetteville. The Round Top-Carmine girls won the team title with 181 points over runner up Fayetteville, which had 179.

The La Grange track team competed at the District 22-4A meet last week in Giddings. Giddings won both varsity team titles with the La Grange teams second in both. The top four finishers in each varsity district event advance to this week’s area meet in La Grange Wednesday. The La Grange softball team went to Smithville and defeated the Lady Tigers 5-1 Saturday morning. La Grange’s Alyssa Liccioni pitched a complete game one-hitter with five strikeouts.

The District 28-2A track meet was held last week in Ganado. Flatonia and Schulenburg had several athletes finish in the top four of their events to advance to the area meet.

Former La Grange High School standout pitcher Wyatt Wick hurled a complete game shutout for UT-Tyler Friday in a 6-0 win over Eastern New Mexico. Wick threw 79 pitches, allowing just five hits and one walk while striking out five in a seven-inning effort in the second game of a doubleheader.
