The La Grange Team Tennis squad played in the school’s first ever playoff match on Monday against District 24 top seed Caldwell. Many La Grange players played their best tennis of the year and all competed remarkably, but in the end the team fell 0-10 to an outstanding Caldwell unit.
The Flatonia football team fell to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in district with a 52-21 loss to Bloomington Friday. Flatonia Beck’s Zimmerman threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns to Keegan Green and Kade Giese, and Caysen Perez ran for a touchdown but it was not enough to overcome Bloomington’s powerful rushing attack.
110 folks entered last week’s Pick-It contest and 103 of them did not see Weimar’s upset of Schulenburg coming. The rest missed some other game along the way, so nobody went 10for-10 to claim last week’s $100 prize, which means this week’s prize jumps up to $200.
The La Grange volleyball team fell to 9-23 overall and 1-2 in district with a loss Friday at Giddings. La Grange lost 25-15, 2325, 26-24, 23-25, 13-15.
Schulenburg fell to their arch rival the Weimar Wildcats Friday night 14-27 in Weimar. Schulenburg was 4-1 on the season coming into the game versus Weimar, who was 1-3 coming off a bye week.
