The Round Top-Carmine girls basketball team beat Fayetteville Tuesday 54-39 led by a 23-point night from Tess Eilers. Jill Eilers added 15 points for the Cubettes, who improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in district with the victory.

The Flatonia girls kept their hot start to the season going with a 57-21 victory at Schulenburg in the district opener for both teams. The win improved the Lady Bulldogs to 9-1 this season.

Several La Grange football players earned all-district accolades on the 11-4A alldistrict team which was released this week. Leps senior quarterback Clayton Cooper was named the Offensive MVP of 11-4A after passing for 1,919 yards and 14 touchdowns and rushing for 1,102 yards and 22 touchdowns, all team highs.

Columbus knocked off Franklin 62-42 in the state quarterfinals last week and the Cardinals now advance to face undefeated Edna in the state semis. Meanwhile Shiner and Ganado are marching into the state semis, but Lexington saw its playoff run end in a 3125 loss to Tidehaven.
