Volleyball Round-Up

The La Grange volleyball team went 6-3, placing 7th at the 34-team Wimberley Tournament last week, beating Glen Rose, Savio, Victoria East, Blanco and Prince of Peace before falling to Ponder, Greenhill and Sotomayor.

The Lady Leps are now 6-3 overall and host Caldwell Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

The Schulenburg volleyball team played in the Columbus Tournament last week going 4-4 to place fourth in the Gold Bracket of the tournament.

Lady Horns Haylee Vacek and Greenli VanZandt were named to the all-tournament team.

Schulenburg defeated Fulshear JV, Sealy, RTC, and East Bernard but lost to Cypress Christian, Columbus, Burton and St. John.

In Saturday’s finale against St. John, Vacek and VanZandt each had eight kills. Jenna Guentert had 17 assists and 14 digs. Miranda Bonner had 11 digs and Aubryn Janda had three aces.

Schulenburg is now 4-5 overall and will host Bellville Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Schulenburg will play host to a 14-team varsity tournament this Thursday-Saturday.

Fayetteville

The Fayetteville volleyball team beat the Smithville JV in two sets Friday to improve to 2-0. The Lady Lions play at Burton Tuesday.

Flatonia

After going 1-2 and 0-3 Thursday and Friday respectively at the Wimberley Tournament, Flatonia won two of three matches Saturday, downing Lampasas and Nixon, but falling to Canton. Here are the stat leaders for that win Saturday over Nixon: Blocks: Kat Sullivan 2, Emma Kosler 1; Assists: Harper Morrill 23; Digs: Presley Cliffe 6, Brynlee Zimmerman & Kennedy Dornak 5, Eliana Herrera 4; Kills: Kat Sullivan 9, Abbie Uzzell and Quinn Arnett 5, Emma Kosler 4.

RTC

The Round Top-Carmine volleyball team is 4-4 overall after a strong showing at the Columbus Tournament last week that earned then third place in the silver bracket. The Cubettes beat Weimar, Hallettsville, and Cypress Christian, but lost to El Campo East Bernard, Columbus, and Schulenburg. The Cubettes play at Giddings Tuesday.
