Three Flatonia Athletes Headed to State Powerlifting

Three Flatonia High School powerlifters have qualified for state after placing at the regional meet last week.

Tadan Alvarado won the super heavy weight class with a 750 pound squat (a regional record), a 425 pound bench (a regional record) and a 480 pound dead lift. His 1,655 total pounds was also a regional record.

Davon Walles won first place in the 308 pound weight class with a 590 pound squat, a 345 pound bench press, a 500 pound dead lift for a total of 1,435 pounds.

Gentry Doyle was runner-up in the 132 pound weight class. He had a 330 pound squat, a 220 pound bench press and a 325 pound dead lift.

They will all compete at the state meet Saturday in Abilene. Flatonia finished 3rd as a team behind Centerville (2nd) and Rosebud-Lott (1st).
