Swishers Set More Swimming Records As Leps Look Strong at El Campo Meet

The La Grange High School Swim team participated in the 2022 EC Invitational on December 10th. Following the precedent set the past two swim meets the Swisher siblings both broke school records again. Two relays and one individual finished in medal contention. Out of the 19 schools there, ranging from 4A-6A, LHS finished fourth overall. The girl’s team finished third overall and the boys finished fifth.

Medalists

Ben Swisher swam a 1:02.92 in the 100 Fly placing third receiving a bronze medal. He swam a personal best setting a new school record by dropping 2.05 seconds off his best time.

The girls 200 Medley Relay swam a 2:16.28 placing third. Isabella Strever, Bailey Swisher, Campbell Youens, and Madeline Willrich brought home the bronze medal.

The boys 400 Freestyle Relay swam a 4:14.37 placing second. Gage Mihatsch, Graham Youens, John Kasper and Benjamin Swisher brought home the silver medal.

Personal bests

Bailey Swisher set new school record and a personal best time in the 100 breast swimming a 1:24.85. She placed fifth in the meet, dropping 2.67 seconds off her best time.

Laney Herdler set two personal best times in both of her individual races. The first one was in the 200 free where she swam a 2:51.33 placing thirteenth, dropping 15.26 seconds off her best time. She also swam a 1:31.46 in the 100 back placing eleventh, dropping 2.91 seconds off her best time.

Clara Bundick set a personal best in the 100 back swimming a 1:27.16 and placing tenth. In addition, dropping 8.76 seconds off her best time.

Gavin Cook set two personal best times in both of his individual races. The first one was in the 100 Free where he swam a 1:05.78 placing twenty-second, dropping 1.90 seconds off his best time. He also swam the 100 Breast in a 1:24.12 placing eighth, dropping 1.37 off his best time.
