Strong Opening Night for Local Volleyball Teams

The La Grange volleyball team defeated Weimar in five sets Tuesday in the season opener for both teams.

Weimar won the first and fourth sets 25-13 and 25-22, while La Grange won the second and third sets 25-13, 25-20, before the Lady Leps grabbed the fifth and final set 15-12. La Grange plays at the Texfest Tournament in Wimberley this weekend before hosting Caldwell Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Fayetteville Wins Big

The Fayetteville volleyball team defeated Bellville Faith Academy Tuesday in the season opener for both teams 25-7, 28-26, 25-18.

Senior Lainey Gromaski led the Lady Lions with 15 kills. Maycee Miller and Lilly Aldape both had six kills and Cambree Denham and Aubree Graeter each had five kills.

Scotti Beseda and Emily Keilers each had four aces. Gromaski and Raelee Denham each had three aces.

Keilers led in digs with 14. Beseda had six and Aldape five.

Beseda had 33 assists.

The Lady Lions play at Smithville Friday.

RTC Sweeps Flatonia

The Round Top-Carmine volleyball team swept Flatonia Tuesday in the season opener for both teams, 25-19, 25-19, 25-14. The Cubettes play at the Columbus Tournament this weekend and Flatonia plays at the Wimberley Tournament.

Lady Horns Falls at Sealy

The Schulenburg volleyball team lost at Sealy in the season opener for both teams, 22-25, 15-25, 25-17, 16-15. The Lady Horns play at the Columbus varsity tournament this weekend.
