The Fayetteville volleyball team qualified for it’s first-ever state volleyball tournament with a threeset victory over Round Top-Carmine Saturday in the regional finals in Brenham. For three consecutive seasons, the Fayetteville girls had been stopped one win short of going to state. Now the Lady Lions, who have a remarkable 44-2 overall record advance to play Sulphur Bluff (26-9) at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the state semifinals at the Culwell Center in Garland. The winner of that state semifinal advances to play the Veribest (34-5)/Blum(35-12) winner for the state title Thursday at 3 p.m. back in Garland.
