Shorthorns End Season Winless in Football
The Schulenburg football season came to an end Saturday in Thrall with a 38-14 loss to the Tigers.
The loss means the Shorthorns are 0-10 for the first time since the 1959 season.
One year ago the Shorthorns marched to the thirds round of the playoffs, but things have been tough since. Their head coach Walter Brock resigned midseason and Gilbert Price coached the final three games of the season as the interim head coach.
Saturday the Shorthorns had trouble stopping the Thrall running game, which gained 426 yards.
After falling behind 31-0 at halftime, Schulenburg was able to score twice in the second half on a John Davis one-yard touchdown run and a 38-yard touchdown pass from Jayse Janda to Kenny Schramek.
Schramek was one of only five seniors on the team, so lots of lettermen could return for Schulenburg next season.
