Schulenburg vs. No. 3 Burton

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday Where: Schulenburg Records: Schulenburg is 0-2.

Burton is 2-0.

Of Note: The Shorthorns lost to Rogers last week 55-14, the second week in a row of giving up a lot of points (they allowed 42 in the season opener to Randolph).

Meanwhile, defense has been a strength for No. 3-ranked Burton, which won their season opener 21-18 over Holland and then beat Hearne 6-0 last week in overtime. Burton’s Tanner Gore intercepted a pass in overtime and then two plays later Delvin Gantt scored the game-winner on a 22-yard run. Burton returns eight offensive and eight defensive starters from last year’s team which went 5-9 (though seven of those losses were by forfeit because of using an ineligible player). Things may be even tougher from here as the Shorthorns play undefeated Poth next week before starting district play ... Aaron Janecek threw a touchdown pass and Tyler Ryba ran for a touchdown for Schulenburg in the game last week ...

Because of construction work at their stadium, Burton is playing all its games on the road this season.
