The Schulenburg Shorthorns defense held East Bernard in check most of the night, but the Shorthorns’ offensive struggles continued in a 17-6 loss Friday.

Schulenburg is averaging just eight points a game over the last three weeks. Friday the Shorthorns moved the ball well, and had 350 yards of total offense (compared to 363 for East Bernard), but Schulenburg lost three turnovers (compared to none for the Brahmas) and that was a big difference.

Schulenburg’s only score came in the first quarter on a one-yard run by quarterback Tyler Ryba. East Bernard scored 17 unanswered points, including an 81-yard touchdown catch from former La Grange student Caleb Magness. East Bernard quarterback Dallas Novicke was 13 of 17 passing.

Now with a 2-2 record, the Shorthorns play at Hallettsville Friday. Hallettsville is 3-1 overall and coming off a 54-3 win over Rice last week.
