Rotary Club Holding Sock Fundraiser for Tornado Victims

Rotary Club of La Grange is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the tornado relief efforts of the Rotary Club of Mayfield, KY. The club is selling Kentucky Derby socks at (3) locations in La Grange – Historic Casino Hall, National Bank & Trust, The Fayette County Record’s office.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the club’s tornado relief efforts.

The Rotary Club of La Grange has been eager to “pay it forward” since they established their Hurricane Harvey relief fund.

Through that fund, they raised over $380,000 and were able to provide utility bill assistance to all of the residents effected by the flooding in La Grange. They were also able to help 40 families with rental assistance and funds for basic needs.

In addition, they were able to assist a variety of local organizations with providing food assistance, etc. to those impacted.

Their biggest accomplishment was providing every graduating high school senior whose family lost their housing due to the flooding with a $2,000 life scholarship where the funds could be used for a traditional college education or to prepare to enter the workforce after high school.
