No Six-Man Football This Season in Fayette County
The Fayette County Panthers six-man football team will not play this season said the team’s founder C.H. Harvey.
He said there are not enough interested players.
“Honestly I don’t see us having enough players for a few years,” Harvey said. “We’ll just wait and see what happens down the road.”
The team did not play last season, either, amidst COVID concerns and a lack of numbers. Very few six-man independent schools were able to field teams last season, but Harvey said many teams have bounced back this season.
That will allow Harvey to continue to coordinate the Independent Six-Man Bowl Series of championship games at the conclusion of the regular season. That series will be held in Baird this season and crown independent champions of six-man football from across the state.
That bowl series was founded by Harvey.
