Mumford Eliminates Flatonia in the 2A Baseball Playoffs

The Flatonia Bulldogs played an epic three-game regional quarterfinal playoff series against Mumford last week, but Flatonia came up just short.

After the two teams traded wins in Games 1 and 2, Mumford won Game 3 by a 6-5 score to advance to play Refugio in the regional semis.

In Game 1, Mumford won 4-2. Flatonia’s Titan Targac pitched five innings of four-run ball, striking out 11. The Bulldogs only managed three hits, one each by Targac, Keyshaun Green and Uriel Manzano.

In Game 2, Flatonia bounced back to win 7-3. Dayton Cliffe pitched six innings of three-run ball and Camden Bosl pitched a scoreless seventh. Beck Zimmerman hit a double that drove in three in that game. Cliffe also doubled, and Green, Manzano and Justin Marler had hits.

Game 3 was Saturday in Fayetteville and Mumford won 6-5 in walk-off fashion with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh to break open a tied game.

Flatonia had trailed 5-0 but bounced back to score five unanswered runs in the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game.

Camden Bosl had four hits Saturday, including a double and drove in two runs. Zimmerman scored two runs.
