LG Subvarsity Football Recaps
The JV purple beat the Giddings Buffaloes 45-0 to make their record 5-3 and improve their district record to 3-0. It was another great team effort starting with the offensive line helping pave the way for five rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown. Elijah Haardt had two rushing touchdowns, Tye Johnson, Julian Sherman and Gabriel Sifuentes all had one rushing touchdown. For the lone passing touchdown of the night Gabriel Sifuentes connected with Julian Sherman. The JV purple completed four 2pt conversions, two runs by Ethan Tarnowski, one run by Lakeith Williams, and a pass from Holdyn Cooper to Cordale Knapik while Edwin Luna was 1-2 on PATs. Defensively the Leps came up big pitching a shutout and forcing a fumble and two interceptions one by Collin Landis and Julian Sherman. The JV purple travels next week to take on the Gonzales Apaches Thursday, October 27.
Giddings Freshmen 22, LG JV Gold 17 Offensive Stats: Mason Klieber 81 TotalYards and 2 TD’s, Ayden Gunther 65 Total Yards, Jeffery Cabrera made a 40 Yard FG Defensive Stats: Ramon Ortiz Led team in Tackles, Jeffery Cabrera second on team in tackles also had a forced fumble and fumble recovery, Mason Kleiber with a forced fumble and fumble recovery.
Sealy 26, LG 8th Grade Gold 0 The 8th grade gold team lost to the Sealy Tigers Tuesday night by a score of 26-0. The gold team was a little under staffed because of sickness and injuries, yet they still played hard the entire game. Quade Brothers ran the ball well, and Barrett Kay and Jeremiah Lenhart led the defense in tackles.
Sealy 50, LG 8th Grade Purple 16 The 8th grade purple team lost to Sealy by a score of 50-16. The Tigers dominated for most of the game. Eli Gillum scored a rushing touchdown and returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Jahir Lopez-Ocon kicked both extra points. The Leopards will host Navasota Tuesday night, with 2 games starting at 5:30.
Sealy 12, LG 7th Grade Gold 6 In a low scoring game against Sealy, Jordan Dugan accounted for the only touchdown. Defensively, Ian Hill had a fumble recovery and Roan Willrich had an interception and a long return right before halftime. Other standouts on defense included Edric Gants, Cohen Conard, Aiden Koether, and Frank Gonzales.
La Grange 7th Grade Purple 14, Sealy 6 The La Grange Purple team won a low scoring game against Sealy by making several big plays on defense. Leading the scoring on offense was Traiton Broussard who scored one touchdown, and Howard Holmes who scored a touchdown and extra point. Van Hill forced two fumbles and recovered one. Traiton Broussard had two interceptions and Dalton Janacek had several passes defended that kept Sealy from scoring late in the game.
Both 7th grade teams will play in La Grange on Monday, October 24 against Cuero.
