LG Natives Shine at Texas Relays

La Grange High School grads Austen Diggs and Trey East III both shined for their universities at the 98th annual Texas Relays in Austin over the weekend.

Diggs is a sophomore runner for Baylor University and East is a senior for the University of Houston.

The two La Grange natives actually ran against each other in the finals of the 4x200 relay Saturday.

East ran the anchor leg to lead U of H to a win in a time of 1:22.48. Diggs ran the first leg for Baylor, which finished second in a time of 1:22.78.

In the 100 Meter finals Diggs placed third with a time of 10.31.

La Grange also had some high school participants in the Texas Relays:

• Macie Collier was 21st in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.40.

• The La Grange girls 4x400 relay team of Diamond McKenzie, London Broussard, Kyndal Brawley and Macie Collier were 38th in the 4x200 relay with a time of 4:12.79
