Lady Leps Fall in the First Round of Playoffs
Girls Postseason
The La Grange girls basketball team saw its season come to an end Monday in Waller with a 43-38 loss to Houston Yates in the first round of the playoffs.
Senior Camille Gonzalez (one of six seniors on the team) led the Lady Leps in scoring with 14. La Grange ends with a 18-11 overall record, They were district cochamps with Taylor.
“I told the girls I was extremely proud of the season they had. We had so many girls step up and play big roles this year,” said La Grange head coach Heath Golan, whose teams have won or tied for the district title each of the last four years. “I told them it was one of the most enjoyable groups I’d had in a while just because of their demeanor and work ethic. Hated to see it end.”
La Grange actually led in this game by one going into
the fourth quarter but Yates outscored them 13-7 in the final period.
“We missed some shots, and they caused some turnovers,” Golan said. “We played hard, just didn’t have enough to finish it.”

Fayetteville, RTC Fall
Also losing in the first round of the girls basketball playoffs Tuesday were Fayetteville and Round Top-Carmine.
The Cubettes lost to Moulton 55-34 in Columbus.
Fayetteville lost to Pettus by two in Flatonia.

Record: Fayetteville finishes season with a 15-14 record.
‘Dogs Advance
The Flatonia basketball team was the only county girls squad to win their playoff opener as they knocked off Thorndale 51-49 Tuesday in Giddings. The Lady Bulldogs got 32 points from Summer Sodek, 10 from Kalen Scott and four from Braidy Fike.
The Flatonia girls will play Dallardsville Big Sandy Friday, Feb. 17 at Bryan Rudder HS at 7 p.m.
