La Grange vs .Madisonville

When: 7 p.m. Thursday Where: College Station High School Records: Leps are 5-5. Madisonville is 6-4.

Of Note: This is a tough first round matchup for the Leps as they face a Mustang team that was the runner-up in District 11. Madisonville and the Leps have one common opponent this season, Columbus. Madisonville lost to Columbus 56-28 and the Leps lost to them 44-7. Madisonville has a pretty balanced offense, averaging 105 yards a game through the air and 183 a game on the ground, with three players averaging more than 50 yards a game rushing. Madisonville WR/DB Lorenzo Johnson is a Texas Tech commit so that should be a fun matchup to watch against La Grange’s Texas A&M commit Bravion Rogers ....The Leps had really been playing well defensively until allowing 35 points in the third quarter against No. 3-ranked Cuero last week in a 49-7 loss, but the Leps were tied with the Gobblers 7-7 at halftime. Jakobe Wilkerson leads the Leps in rushing with 627 yards and Jaxon Cooper leads in receiving yardage with 212 yards.

Up Next: The winner of this game advances to play the Bellville/West Orange Stark winner in the next round.
