La Grange vs. La Vernia

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday Where: La Grange Records: LG is 0-2. La Vernia is 1-1.

Of Note: It’s homecoming week in La Grange and the Leps need a win, especially to erase the sting from last week’s 44-7 loss to Columbus. La Vernia started the season with a 36-25 loss to Burnet, but bounced back to beat Gonzales 38-10 last week. The Bears went 2-9 last season and return five offensive and six defensive starters from last year’s team including quarterback Stratton Hayes, who threw for 113 yards and two TDs last week, almost all of that coming to junior receiver Colten Schmid. Junior Garrett Lamb ran for 107 yards and La Vernia amassed 318 total yards on the ground ... The Leps allowed 451 total yards to Columbus last week. The bright spot, and only touchdown, last week for the Leps was a 75-yard kick-off return for a touchdown by Jakobe Wilkerson ... This is the only home game for the Leps this month. La Grange goes to Lago Vista next week and then Splendora followed by a bye.

Last meeting: La Vernia and La Grange have played some very competitive games over the last few years. Last season La Vernia won at home 28-21. Two years ago, on a homecoming in La Grange, the Leps rallied for 22 fourth quarter points to grab a 32-28 win.
