La Grange Swimming Qualifies 15 for Regionals

Gretchen Ledwik Named District’s Best Female Swim Coach

The La Grange High School swim team participated in their first 4A district meet in history on January 20. With each first place finish at this meet, each swimmer set a district record to now set the standard of 4A competition. Ben Swisher placed first in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.69. He now holds the school and district records. The La Grange High School swim team placed runner up at the district meet behind Davenport High School beating Wimberley High School, Comal Canyon Lake High School, Hallettsville High School and Columbus High School. Each swimmer and relay that placed in the top four at the district meet qualified for the Regional Swim meet in San Antonio Jan 27 -28. LHS swim will be taking fifteen swimmers to the Regional Swim Meet.

Girls 200 Medley Relayplaced second and are regional qualifiers. Swimmers included: Celeine Fabre, Bailey Swisher, Campbell Youens, and Eleanor Carey

Boys 200 Medley Relay- Placed fourth and are regional qualifiers. Swimmers included: Will Bundick, Hunter Sabo, Ben Swisher, and Clayton Knapik.

Girls 200 Freestyle- Madeline Willrich placed fourth and qualified for regionals dropping 12.11 seconds off her best time swimming a 2:49.62 at district.

Girls 200 Individual Medley- Celeine Fabre placed fourth and qualified for regionals swimming a 2:55.36. Avery Koehl placed eighth swimming a 3:19.97.

Girls 50 Yard Freestyle- Hope Michalke placed tenth swimming a 31.88. Quinlyn Landis placed twelfth swimming a 32.96. Elana Supak placed thirteenth swimming a 33.84.

Boys 50 Yard Freestyle- Clayton Knapik placed seventh dropping 1.07 off his best time swimming a 26.39. Will Bundick placed eighth swimming a 27.07. Gavin Cook placed eleventh swimming a 28.87. Cordale Knapik placed thirteenth swimming a 29.05.

Girls 100 Butterfly- Campbell Youens placed second and qualified for regionals swimming a 1:11.50 at district. Hope Michalke placed fourth and qualified for regionals swimming a 1:27.02.

Boys 100 Butterfly- Ben Swisher placed first and qualified for regionals swimming a 1:01.69.

Girls 100Yard Freestyle- Eleanor Carey placed sixth swimming a 1:11.15. Quinlyn Landis placed tenth swimming a 1:214.14. Clara Bundick placed thirteenth dropping .30 seconds of her best time swimming a 1:15.76. Haley Villasana placed fourteenth swimming a 1:19.41.

Boys 100Yard Freestyle- Hunter Sabo placed seventh dropping 1.02 off his best time swimming a 1:05.01. Gavin Cook placed eighth swimming a 1:05.37. Collin Landis placed tenth dropping 1.77 off his best time swimming a 1:06.95. Oliver Gunn placed twelfth dropping .36 off his best time swimming a 1:08.83.

Girls 500 Freestyle- Laney Herdler placed second and qualified for regionals. She dropped 17.00 off her best time swimming a 7:45.60.

Girls 200 Freestyle Relay- Medaled, placed third and are regional qualifiers. Swimmers included: Celeine Fabre, Bailey Swisher, Eleanor Carey, and Campbell Youens.

Boys 200 Freestyle Relay- Medaled, placed third and are regional qualifiers. Swimmers included: William Bundick, Clayton Knapik, Hunter Sabo, and Benjamin Swisher.

Girls 100 Backstroke- Haley Villasana placed sixth dropping 1:37 off her best time this season swimming a 1:25.60. Avery Koehl placed ninth swimming a 1:31.41. Raygen Pyle placed twelfth dropping 4.17 seconds off her best time swimming a 1:41.84.

Boys 100 Backstroke- Collin Landis placed fourth qualifying for regionals swimming a 1:18.35. Oliver Gunn placed seventh dropping 3.36 off his best time swimming a 1:20.59.

Girls 100 Yard Breaststroke- Bailey Swisher placed fifth swimming a 1:27.24. Elena Supak placed sixth dropping a 2.24 off her best time swimming a 1:29.89.

Boys 100 Yard Breaststroke- Hunter Sabo placed fifth dropping .04 off his best time swimming a 1:21.78. Dalton Landis placed sixth swimming a 1:26.41. Cordale Knapik placed eighth dropping 5.49 off his best time swimming a 1:34.30.

Girls 400 Freestyle Relay- Medaled, placed second and qualified for regionals. Swimmers included: Celeine Fabre, Quinlyn Landis, Eleanor Carey, Campbell Youens.

Boys 400 Freestyle Relay- Placed fourth and qualified for regionals. Swimmers included: Clayton Knapik, Gavin Cook, Will Bundick, and Benjamin Swisher.

At the end of the meet, Coach Gretchen Ledwik was awarded Girls Coach of the Meet.
